To start working in real estate you will need a certificate of registration. Successful completion of the REINSW Assistant Agents Course will not only enable you to apply for registration with NSW Fair Trading but will also equip you with the skills and knowledge to be work ready. You can also continue your studies and complete the full qualification to become a Licenced Agent.


The course runs in two parts: Cluster 1: 2 Units.  Cluster 2: 3 Units

The online course is in two parts. You have up to 3 months to complete the course.

  • Cluster 1 - Legislation and Compliance - approx 20 hours including assessment
  • Cluster 2 - Professional Practice - approx 30 hours including assessment

A study guide will assist you to navigate the reading and activities and prepare you for the final assessment.

Once you have paid the first instalment fee you can start your learning.

The course is run in two parts, over two weeks.

  • Cluster 1 - Legislation and Compliance - two days training - 9:30am to 4:30pm
  • Cluster 2 - Professional Practice - three days training - 9:30am to 4:30pm

Cluster 1 - Legislation and Compliance

2 units of competency

CPPREP4003 Access and interpret legislation in real estate
CPPREP4005 Prepare to work in real estate trust accounts

The Legislation and Compliance Cluster will give you a broad understanding of the legislative framework that is relevant to real estate.

You will develop an understanding of the structure, application and impact of legislation on work in real estate.

You will also gain a basic understanding of trust accounts and the requirements of working with an agency trust account.


Cluster 2 - Professional Practice

3 units of competency

CPPREP4001 Prepare for professional practice in real estate
CPPREP4002 Access and interpret ethical practice in real estate
CPPREP4004 Establish marketing profiles in real estate

The Professional Practice Cluster will introduce the professional and ethical requirements to work in real estate. You will discover the business structures, regulatory framework, codes of practice and professional development pathways within real estate.

Having an understanding of ethical standards will assist in reducing financial and reputational risks in meeting consumer protection standards and in dealing responsibly with ethical breaches and challenges.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Regardless of the mode of delivery, all training and assessment tasks are aimed at confirming your ability to apply acquired knowledge and skills to the workplace.

Your assessments will include:

  • Short and extended answer questions
  • Workplace situation activities
  • Workplace skills assessment (Role play)

We encourage you to complete and submit your assessments within two weeks of completing Assistant Agent Course, while the information is still fresh in your mind. Learners are required to submit all assessments via the online portal. REINSW recognises the individual needs of learners and has strategies in place to assist learners who may have difficulties with assessment tasks.

In order to complete assessments, you must have access to: a computer, Microsoft Word (or similar), an email address, the internet.

Throughout the duration of the course, and after completion of the course, REINSW expert trainers and assessors are available to provide support to learners should they require assistance with any part of their learning.

The assessment marking process takes up to four weeks from the date an assessment is received by REINSW. In most instances, results are available inside of this time frame.
